A Quiet Place’s Djimon Hounsou to Star in Horror Thriller Movie Monster
Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou has officially signed on to star in upcoming horror film The Monster. The project hails from Saw franchise director Darren Lynn Bousman.
This marks Hounsou’s latest horror movie, after recently starring in Paramount Pictures’ A Quiet Place: Day One prequel, where he reprised his role as Henri from the 2020 sequel. He also appeared in other horror movies such as 1998’s Deep Rising, 2005’s Constantine, and 2015’s The Vatican Tapes. Besides Monster, he will also next be seen in the survival thriller movie Last Breath with Finn Cole and Woody Harrelson, as well as The Zealot with Kodi Smit-McPhee.
What is The Monster about?
“The movie follows two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them,” reads the official synopsis (via Deadline).
The Monster will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman from a screenplay written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer. The film will be produced by Envision Media Arts’ Lee Nelson and David Tish, along with Mark Burg. The latter previously worked with Bousman on the Saw franchise. Production is expected to begin sometime in November in Danbury, Connecticut.
“Darren sent me a script with incredible twists and turns and the opportunity to work with him and the brilliant Djimon Hounsou,” Burg said in a statement. “This movie will be amazing and scare the hell out of audiences worldwide.”
