EPL: Liverpool seek to extend lead as Chelsea battle to enter top four

The stage is set for the biggest Premier League match of this weekend as Liverpool hosts Chelsea at Anfield following the international break.

The Reds head to the game following a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their last game.

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot will be hoping to consolidate his lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Slot’s side currently tops the Premier League table with 18 points from seven matches.

They are ahead of second position Manchester City who have 17 points from the same number of matches.

A victory for Liverpool against Chelsea will see them extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Slot is expected to be without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker when Liverpool face the Blues at home due to injury.

The Brazilian sustained a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace before the international break.

Chelsea, on the other hand, head to the game following a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in their last game.

Chelsea Manager, Enzo Maresca will be without the likes of Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella against Liverpool.

Both players picked up their fifth yellow cards of the campaign against Forest and will miss the Anfield battle.

Cucurella’s absence opens the door for Renato Veiga to play against. Liverpool, while Axel Disasi and Tosin Adarabioyo will scrap it out to replace Fofana in the heart of Chelsea’s backline.

A win for Chelsea against Liverpool will see Maresca’s side enter the top four positions as they currently have more goal difference ahead of Arsenal and Aston Villa, who sit in third and fourth positions, respectively at the moment.

The kick-off time for the match is 4.30 pm, Nigerian time.
