Libya vs Nigeria: Stay safe – Bayer Leverkusen sends message to Boniface

Bayer Leverkusen on Monday urged their striker Victor Boniface to stay safe after the player cried out following the treatment he and his Super Eagles teammates received on arrival at the Al Abaq Airport in Libya on Sunday.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Libya in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier on Tuesday night.

This comes after their 1-0 victory against Libya in the first leg on Friday.

However, the Super Eagles were stranded at the airport for over 15 hours after landing in Libya.

Boniface then took to his X account to react to the situation.

He tweeted, “This is getting scary now, You guys can have the points
We just want to return to our country.”

Replying to Boniface, Bayer Leverkusen wrote: “Stay safe, Victor – we’re all thinking of you and your team-mates.”

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have already decided to boycott the match.
