UnPrisoned Canceled After 2 Seasons, Kerry Washington Issues Statement
Hulu has officially decided not to renew Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo’s comedy-drama series UnPrisoned for a third season. This comes after over two months since the show premiered its 8-episode second season, which is still available for streaming on Hulu.
The UnPrisoned series was inspired by the life of author Tracy McMillan, who also served as an executive producer. The series also starred Faly Rakotohavana, Marque Richardson, Jordyn McIntosh, Jee Young Han, John Stamos, Brenda Strong, Brandee Evans, Oliver Hudson, and Jamie Chung. In addition to leading the cast, Washington and Lindo were executive producing alongside Yvette Lee Bowser, Joy Gorman Wettels, and Jen Braeden.
What did Kerry Washington say about the UnPrisoned cancellation?
“This beautiful show that we poured so much of our hearts and souls into is unfortunately not coming back for a Season 3,” Washington wrote on her social media accounts. “But I wanted you to hear it from me because while we’re super duper disappointed, we’re also crazy deeply grateful. Making this show was a labor of love. And we know that so many of you found connection and healing with The Alexander Family – and that their impact will live on! We are soooooo grateful to the entire cast & crew – who are not only brilliant and hardworking, but a JOY to work with! Thank you to our fellow producers and all our writers and directors for leading and guiding and inspiring us.”
