EPL: Man City, Arsenal clash for top spot
The stage is set for the Premier League match of the weekend as Manchester City host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.
Man City head to the game following a 2-1 win against Brentford in their last Premeir League game.
The Cityzens have won three, draw two and lose one of their last six matches against Arsenal.
Man City manager Pep Guardiola has already confirmed that playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is a doubt for the match.
Recall that De Bruyne was forced off at half-time in Man City’s UEFA Champions League clash with Inter Milan on Wednesday.
Also, Man City remain without defender Nathan Ake, who picked up an injury while on international duty with the Netherlands.
Rodri, who made his first appearance of the season from off the bench against Brentford, could return to the starting lineup against Arsenal.
Arsenal, on the other hand, head to the game following a 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Gunners will be without their captain Martin Odegaard against Man City, with manager Mikel Arteta confirming on Wednesday that the Norway midfielder will be out “for a while” after sustaining significant ankle injury.
The Premier League North London club, will however, welcome Declan Rice back to the team after the England international served a one-match suspension for his red card against Brighton.
However, Man City need a win or a draw against Arsenal to move top of the Premier League table, while Arteta’s side need a win to go top of the table.
City currently sit in second position with 12 points from four games, while Arsenal are in fifth position with 10 points from the same number of games.
The kick-off time for the match is 4.30 pm, Nigerian time.
