Secession: Police parade 3 Yoruba Nation agitators in Osun

The Osun State Police Command has paraded three suspected Yoruba nation agitators over alleged secession agenda.

The suspects, Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, 61, Joy Faseyeku, 63, and Alabede Janet, 64, were arrested at Obada Market, Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, while advocating that people should join Yoruba Nation.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesman, Emmanuel Giwa-Alade on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the statement, the suspect comprising a man and two women were arrested with an Oodua Nation flag, a tripod, a megaphone, two mobile phones, handbills and a cap with a Yoruba Nation inscription.

The statement read: “One Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, male, 61 years old, a native of Akure, Ondo State was arrested in Obada Market, Ikire on August 27, addressing marketers to embrace and support the Yoruba Nation. He urged traders in the market to denounce their allegiance to Nigeria as a nation.

“The suspect claimed the entity called Nigeria ended in 2014 after 100 years of amalgamation and displayed the Yoruba Nation’s flag in the process. After his arrest, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after a preliminary investigation.

“Through diligent investigation, Joy Faseyiku, female, 63 years old and Alabede Janet, female, 64 years old, were arrested in Osogbo and Ikire town respectively in connection with the crime. An investigation has been concluded and the suspects have been charged in the Federal High Court accordingly. ”
