Blitz Trailer Previews Steve McQueen Historical Drama Starring Saoirse Ronan

The first trailer for Steve McQueen’s Blitz has been released.

Blitz is a new historical drama movie directed by McQueen. Starring Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson, and more, the film will be released in select United States theaters in early November before it arrives on Apple TV+ at a later date.

What is Blitz about?

“Sir Steve McQueen’s Blitz follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to his mom and his grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son. “

The cast of the movie also includes Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman, and Sally Messham.

McQueen’s Lammas Park produces the movie with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title Films; Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Michael Schaefer for New Regency; Anita Overland, and Adam Somner.

McQueen’s past filmography includes 2008’s Hunger, 2011’s Shame, 2013’s 12 Years a Slave, 2018’s Widows, and 2023’s Occupied City. Amazon Prime Video also released McQueen’s Small Axe — an anthology film series that includes Mangrove, Lovers Rock, Red White and Blue, Alex Wheatle, and Education —in November 2022.

Blitz will be released in select United States theaters on November 1, 2024. Prior to that, the movie will premiere as the opening film at the BFI London Film Festival on October 9, 2024.

Blitz will then be available to stream on Apple TV+ on November 22, 2024.
