EPL: I always win things in my second year – Postecoglou assures Tottenham after 1-0 defeat to Arsenal
Ange Postecoglou has assured Tottenham Hotspur fans that he always wins something in his second season at any club.
The manager, who joined Spurs last season, expressed his confidence and potential to compete for trophies.
He spoke after watching his side fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
The manager is aiming to end Spurs’ 16-year wait for a trophy and has reiterated that Tottenham can still win silverware this season, having said the same thing last month (August).
Despite being the better side for the entirety of the match, Tottenham ended up on the losing side as Gabriel netted a power header from Bukayo Saka’s cross in the 64th minute.
Postecoglou was asked if Tottenham could still challenge for silverware this season and the Australian told Sky Sports, “Yes, absolutely. If I can answer the question or are you going to keep asking?
“I will correct myself. I don’t usually win things, I always win things in my second year… nothing’s changed. I just sort of said it now, I don’t say things unless I believe them.”
Since assuming the role at Tottenham, Postecoglou is yet to win a single Premier League match against Arsenal in his three attempts.
