Land tussle: Police invite leaders of Anambra communities over killing of three

The Anambra State Police Command has summoned the President Generals of Enugwu-Ukwu and Nawfia Communities following growing tension in the areas over the gruesome murder of three youths on Monday.

The three people who are said to be from Enugwu-Ukwu community were lured by their neighbours from Nawfia, and killed over a land disagreement.

While the Enugwu-Ukwu community accused Nawfia community members of being responsible for the killing, leaders of the Nawfia community dissociated themselves from it.

Anambra State Police command had in the wake of the killing promised to maintain neutrality to ensure that those responsible were brought to book.

Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Tochikwu Ikenga said the Command has summoned the two President Generals of the communities for discussions aimed at preventing a potential breakdown of law and order.

Sources from the two communities on Wednesday morning said there was heightened apprehension and low business activity due to fear of attacks, which could escalate into a full-scale communal crisis.
