The Apprentice Trailer Previews Donald Trump Movie With Sebastian Stan & Jeremy Strong

The first trailer for The Apprentice has been released.

The Apprentice is a new biographical drama movie that is about Donald Trump during the 1970s and 1980s. It stars Sebastian Stan as Trump, Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn, Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, and more.

What is The Apprentice about?

“1970s New York. Determined to emerge from his powerful father’s shadow and make a name for himself in Manhattan real estate, aspiring mogul Donald J. Trump is in the earliest days of his career when he encounters the man who will become one of the most important figures in his life, political fixer Roy Cohn,” the official synopsis reads. “Seeing promise in young Donald, the influential attorney — who secured espionage convictions against Julius and Ethel Rosenberg and investigated suspected Communists alongside Senator Joseph McCarthy — teaches his new acolyte how to amass wealth and power through deception, intimidation, and media manipulation. The rest is history.”

The movie is directed by Ali Abbasi, who previously made 2016’s Shelley, 2018’s Border, and 2022’s Holy Spider. Along with the aforementioned cast, it also stars Martin Donovan, Ben Sullivan, Charlie Carrick, Mark Rendall, and Joe Pingue.

Production on The Apprentice, which was written by Gabriel Sherman, wrapped in January 2024. It was then screened at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and was also recently shown at the Telluride Film Festival.

While the movie received positive reviews from critics, it struggled to find a domestic distributor given its controversial subject matter and pressure from Trump’s legal team to block the film’s release. It was confirmed that Briarcliff Entertainment had ultimately purchased the distribution rights in August 2024.

The Apprentice will now play in United States theaters on October 11, 2024, from Briarcliff Entertainment.
