UNIBEN revised academic calendar for 2023/2024 session

The University of Benin has released a revised academic calendar for the 2023/2024 session, following a period of disruption caused by students' protests over inadequate electricity supply and demands for good governance on campus.

The protests, which led to a temporary halt in academic activities, resulted in a revised schedule to ensure the academic session is completed successfully. The new calendar outlines the key dates and events for the first and second semesters.

First Semester:

- Students are expected to report in Halls of Residence on Sunday, 11th August, 2024.

- Lectures commence in all Faculties on Monday, 12th August, 2024.

- Examinations for Faculties of Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Physical Sciences, and School of Basic Medical Sciences take place from Monday, 2nd September, 2024, to Friday, 6th September, 2024.

- Examinations for other Faculties/Schools/Institutes start on Monday, 9th September, 2024.

- GST Examinations hold from Wednesday, 18th to Thursday, 19th September, 2024.

- Students go on break/end of semester on Wednesday, 18th September, 2024.

Second Semester:

- Students report in Halls of Residence on Sunday, 6th October, 2024.

- Lectures begin in all Faculties on Monday, 7th October, 2024.

- Students proceed on Christmas and New Year Break from Friday, 20th December, 2024.

- Students resume to Halls of Residence on Sunday, 5th January, 2025.

- Revision takes place from Monday, 6th to Friday, 10th January, 2025.

- Examinations begin in Faculties of Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Physical Sciences, and School of Basic Medical Sciences from Monday, 13th to Friday, 17th January, 2025.

- Examinations hold in other Faculties/Schools/Institutes from Tuesday, 21st to Thursday, 30th January, 2025.

- GST Examinations take place on Friday, 31st January, and Saturday, 1st February, 2025.

Special Occasions:

- Eid-el-Maulud: 16th September, 2024

- Proposed Edo State Elections: 21st September, 2024

- Independence Day: 1st October, 2024

- Students' Union Election: 17th October, 2024
