The Bride Set Image Gives Us a Good Look at Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley in Costume

An image from the set of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride gives us a fresh look at Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley in the Frankenstein movie.

Last month saw the first look at the pair in camera test images for the film, but this is the first time we can see them head to toe in costume on set, thanks to a sneakily taken pic.

The Bride Set Image Shows a Monstrous Pair

“The film sees a lonely Frankenstein travel to 1930s Chicago to seek the aide of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself,” reads the synopsis. “The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman, and the Bride is born. She is beyond what either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, the attention of the police, and a wild and radical social movement.”

Based on Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus, The Bride! will be directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is also producing alongside Talia Kleinhendler, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, and Osnat Handelsman-Keren. This marks Gyllenhaal’s second directorial project following 2021’s The Lost Daughter, which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. Besides Gyllenhaal, Guillermo del Toro is also currently directing another Frankenstein-centered movie, which will feature Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Jacob Elordi.

The Bride is set to be released on October 3, 2025.
