Wolf Man: Matilda Firth Joins Cast of Universal Horror Movie

Disenchanted actor Matilda Firth has joined the cast of Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man movie from Universal and Blumhouse.

Firth joins Christopher Abbott (Girls), Julia Garner (Ozark), and Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale) in the film. The young actor appeared in Disney’s Disenchanted, Christmas Carole, and the Matt Smith folk horror Starve Acre.

In Whannell’s movie, Lawrence (Abbott) is returning to his hometown and is afflicted by an ancient curse after being bitten by a werewolf. The monstrous side of Lawrence then terrorizes his family.

It’s the latest spin on the classic 1941 Universal Monster movie The Wolf Man by George Wagner, which starred genre heavyweights Lon Chaney Jr., Claude Rains, and Bela Lugosi.

Leigh Whannell co-wrote the film with Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Rebecca Angelo. Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling was originally attached for the titular role. Despite his exit, Gosling will still serve as an executive producer alongside Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Whannell. Jason Blum produces it.

Whannell’s Wolf Man was originally set to release this October but recently got pushed back to January 17, 2025.
