The First Omen Director Teases Future Installments in Horror Franchise

The First Omen director Arkasha Stevenson wants the horror franchise to keep expanding.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Stevenson revealed she’s thought about where the future of the Omen franchise could go after the upcoming prequel movie.

“There’s so many questions and so many adventures in the Omen universe, and it’s hard to work on a film and not think about all of these tangent stories, so yeah, there’s like a spiderweb in my brain,” she said. “I hope the Omen franchise keeps expanding because it’s one of my favorites.”

The First Omen is the sixth official entry in the franchise. The series began in 1976’s The Omen, which was directed by Richard Donner. Damien: Omen II came in 1978 and was then followed by 1981’s Omen III: The Final Conflict, 1991’s Omen IV: The Awakening, and 2006’s The Omen.

What is The First Omen about?

“When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate,” the official synopsis reads.

Written by Stevenson, Tim Smith, and Keith Thomas, The First Omen stars Nell Tiger Free (Servent) as Margaret Daino, Sônia Braga (Shotgun Wedding) as Sister Silvia, Ralph Ineson (The Witch) as Father Brennan, Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean) as Cardinal Lawrence, Tawfeek Barhom (The Looming Tower) as Father Gabriel, Maria Caballero (The Girl in the Mirror) as Luz Valez, and Nicole Sorace as Carlita Skianna.

David S. Goyer and Keith Levine produced the film, while Smith, Whitney Brown, and Gracie Wheelan served as executive producers.

The First Omen releases on April 5, 2024, from 20th Century Studios. The other five Omen movies, meanwhile, are currently streaming on Hulu.
