Jennifer’s Body 2: Diablo Cody Wants to Make a Sequel to Megan Fox Horror Movie
Diablo Cody says she’d gladly work on a sequel to Jennifer’s Body.
Speaking with Bloody Disgusting, Cody, who wrote the screenplay to 2009’s Jennifer’s Body, revealed she’d happily work on a sequel to the film should the opportunity come along.
“Yes! I wanna do a sequel,” Cody said. “I am not done with Jennifer’s Body. I just need to find… I need to partner with people who believe it in as much as I do and that hasn’t really happened yet. I need someone to believe in it who has a billion dollars.”
What is Jennifer’s Body about?
Directed by Karyn Kusama, Jennifer’s Body released in United States theaters in September 2009. While it got mixed reviews from critics and fans at the time (partially due to a botched marketing campaign), Jennifer’s Body has since become something of a cult classic respected for its feminist themes.
The movie starred Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody, Amy Sedaris, Johnny Simmons, J. K. Simmons, Cynthia Stevenson, and Chris Pratt.
“When a demon takes possession of her, high-school hottie Jennifer (Megan Fox) turns a hungry eye on guys who never stood a chance with her before,” the synopsis reads. “While evil Jennifer satisfies her appetite for human flesh with the school’s male population, her nerdy friend, Needy (Amanda Seyfried), learns what’s happening and vows to put an end to the carnage.”
Meanwhile, the newest film written by Cody, Lisa Frankenstein, opens in United States theaters on February 9, 2024. The film stars Kathryn Newton, Close Sprouse, Liza Soberano, and Joe Chrest.
Cody also told Bloody Disgusting that she’s also working on the screenplay for another horror movie. “I have an unfinished one kicking around that I need to finish that I think is definitely the most straight horror, like, overt, gore, scary thing I’ve ever written,” she said. “I’m really proud of the concept and I just have to push myself across the finish line.”
