Kristen Stewart Wants to Star in Another Horror Movie in the Future
Kristen Stewart is keen to star in another horror movie at some point, having already made some interesting moves in the genre.
Stewart Wants to Get Scary
Promoting her new bodybuilding crime thriller Love Lies Bleeding from Saint Maud director Rose Glass, Stewart was asked what parts of genre cinema she’d like to do next by Variety and replied ”To make a good scary movie. Something a bit more psychological”.
When asked what specific genre she’d want to tackle within genre cinema, Stewart responded with ”horror”.
Stewart has plenty of genre experience in a whole lot of varieties. Of course, she starred in the monster-flavored Twilight series, but she’s also been in David Cronenberg’s sci-fi Crimes of the Future, the aquatic horror movie Underwater, Lizzie Borden story Lizzie, and the eerie thriller Personal Shopper.
Her comments here suggest she’s up for something that falls into a more traditional horror space of the supernatural and scare-laden. She has done something in that feel with the 2007 movie The Messengers, but given poor reception for that film, Stewart’s emphasis on making ”a good scary movie” suggests she’s not counting that.
Love Lies Bleeding had its premiere at Sundance over the weekend ahead of its March 8, 2024 theatrical release. Its story sees reclusive gym manager Lou (Stewart) falls hard for Jackie (Katy O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.
