The One Cast: Melissa Barrera & Nicholas Hoult Lead Erotic Horror Movie
After recently leading the blockbuster slasher sequel Scream VI, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Melissa Barrera has found her next horror project in the form of the movie titled The One. Nicholas Hoult (Renfield) and Lana Condor (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy) have also been tapped to join the cast of the erotic horror project, which is being produced by Daisy Jones and the Six’s Riley Keough.
What to Expect in The One?
“The film is nightmarish horror about the romantic and psychological warfare waged by our beloved popular entertainment — and also begs the question… are we, the viewers, complicit?” reads the synopsis. “It follows Taylor (Barrera), who makes a last-ditch effort to find love by becoming a contestant on a reality dating show. Now down to just herself and two other women competing to win the heart of Mason (Hoult), Taylor begins to feel the artifice of the show fade, and the game becomes terrifyingly real. Amidst the opulent beachfront setting, fairytale dates and ever-flowing champagne, pursuit turns into obsession and rivalry turns into treachery as reality itself blurs.”
Described as an “erotic nightmare,” The One will be written and directed by Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley. Keough is producing the project through her Felix Culpa banner along with Hoult for Dead Duck Films. It will also be produced by Whitaker Lader and Gina Gammell, with HanWay Films handling worldwide sales.
“We’ve been dreaming up this project for years, and are thrilled to now bring it to life with our actual dream team,” Armento and Bradley said in a joint statement. “Nick, Melissa, Riley, and Lana are some of the most exciting talents around, and their passion for this film — shared by our incredible producing — has us even more eager to make this nightmare a reality.”
