Longest Third Date Trailer Teases Netflix’s Documentary
Netflix has released the official Longest Third Date trailer for the upcoming documentary about two strangers’ spontaneous trip to Costa Rica that ends up being a compatibility test after they’re forced to extend their date due to the global pandemic. The documentary will start streaming on April 18.
“I loved hearing about Matt and Khani’s story,” director Brent Hodge said in an interview with Tudum. “It begged the question: Can you get to know someone and fall in love during the most bizarre and uncertain time in the world? Their story felt like a real-life rom-com playing out in front of us.”

Described as a combination of modern rom-com and an unexpected social experiment, Longest Third Date is directed by Brent Hodge. It is executive produced by Jordana Hochman, Sarah Howell, Eric Hoberman, Jon Katz, Brent Hodge, Stephen Ruddy, Darin Friedman, and Mike Ang. It hails from ITV America and Civilian 7 Entertainment.
The documentary is edited and produced using Matt’s extensive footage of their experience. “When Matt and Khani match on Hinge, sparks fly. So much so that they spontaneously fly to Costa Rica for their third date — and get stuck as the world shuts down in March 2020. An extended stay in paradise becomes the ultimate test of compatibility,” reads the logline.
