Dear Santa: Jack Black to Lead Farrelly Brothers’ Christmas Comedy
After over two decades since working together in the comedy film Shallow Hal, Golden Globe nominee Jack Black is finally reuniting with filmmaking duo Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly in a new project titled Dear Santa. According to Deadline, Black has signed on for the leading role in the Farrelly Brothers’ upcoming Christmas comedy.
Dear Santa will be directed by Bobby Farrelly from a screenplay they are currently co-writing with Ricky Blitt, based on an original idea from Dan Ewen. The film will center around a young boy, who is annually writing letters to Santa. Unbeknownst to him, his letters are actually being mistakenly sent to Satan instead.
The project will be produced by Peter and Bobby Farrelly along with Jeremy Kramer. In addition to Black, the film has also enlisted Robert Timothy Smith, Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, PJ Byrne, Kai Cech, and newcomer Jaden Carson Baker to join the cast. Grammy nominee Austin Post a.k.a Post Malone (Spenser Confidential) has also been cast for the movie.
Black is best known for starring in a number of hit comedies such as School of Rock, Nacho Libre, The Holiday, the Kung Fu Panda franchise, Tropic Thunder, Goosebumps, and the new Jumanji films. Before appearing in Dear Santa, his next high-profile projects include The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the live-action Borderlands movie, where he’ll be voicing the respective roles of Bowser and Claptrap.
