Horror! Jealous Man Pours Acid on the Wrong Woman After Mistaking Her for His Girlfriend

A woman has been left disfigured for life after she was attacked with acid by a man in a case of mistaken identity.

A woman has been left temporarily blind in one eye after having 'acid' thrown in her face in a pub by a man who mistook her for his girlfriend.

According to Sun UK, the woman suffered her agonising injuries at around 11pm last Friday after two men hurled the noxious substance in a bottle. It is believed that she was not the intended target of the attack in The Glad Abbot pub in Glastonbury Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

Police believe that the attack could be linked to an incident nearby when two cars were seen being driven dangerously and colliding with each other. The woman was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “At this time she has temporarily lost the sight in one eye and is receiving further medical attention.

“Work is underway to determine what the substance was. Officers are not treating the incident as a random attack, however the victim is not believed to have been the intended target.”

One of the men who hurled the substance was wearing a hooded top and the other wore a baseball cap.

The spokesman said that police had received a number of calls just after 10pm on the same evening about two cars being driven dangerously in Out Risbygate and Newmarket Road in Bury St Edmunds.

Callers reported that the car, believed to be a blue Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall Insignia which was a possibly a white or silver estate, were being “driven in a dangerous manner and colliding with each other”

The spokesman said: “Officers are looking at possible connections between this incident and the attack in the Glastonbury Road.”

Staff at the Glad Abbot pub refused to comment. Police confirmed that the woman had left hospital and is now being treated at home.

Officers are appealing for information from any witnesses who saw the attack in the pub or the cars being driven dangerously.
