Dust Bunny: Mads Mikkelsen to Reunite With Hannibal Creator for Horror Film
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Another Round star Mads Mikkelsen has signed on for the leading role in Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller’s forthcoming family horror film titled Dust Bunny. This project will be serving as a reunion for Mikkelsen and Fuller seven years after the hit psychological horror-thriller ended its three-season run.
Mikkelsen recently starred as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. He will next be seen in the forthcoming fifth and final installment of Indiana Jones.
“We have been huge fans of Bryan’s for years,” Thunder Road’s Erica Lee said in a statement. “Dust Bunny is incredibly inventive and unlike anything in the marketplace, and we are thrilled to help bring his first feature to life.”
Dust Bunny will be written, directed, and produced by Fuller. The film will center around an eight-year-old girl “who enlists the help of her intriguing neighbor to kill the monster under her bed that she believes ate her family,” reads the logline.
“Mads brings such a unique quality to every character he brings to life, and his role in Dust Bunny will be no exception,” Sierra/Affinity’s managing director and executive vice president, Kristen Figeroid, added. “We’re excited to bring a throwback to the family horror films of the 80s, a beloved genre for many, to this year’s market at AFM.”
Production is expected to begin in January 2023. It will be produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee for Thunder Road, along with Entertainment One.
