Horror Film Nanny Gets Theatrical Release Date & Prime Video Debut
After successfully acquiring the rights to the film, Amazon Studios has finally set the release date for the upcoming theatrical and streaming debuts of Nikyatu Jusu’s acclaimed horror-drama Nanny. The film had its world premiere earlier this year at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival where it won the Grand Jury Prize Award.
Nanny is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 23, followed by a Prime Video premiere on December 16. Its current theatrical release date will pit the film against the war drama Devotion and Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical film The Fabelmans.
In addition to the date announcement, Amazon has also released brand new photos from the upcoming film, which you can check out below. They offer a new look at Anna Diop’s leading character.
Nanny is written and directed by rising filmmaker Nikyatu Jusu. It stars Anna Diop (Titans), Michelle Monaghan (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Sinqua Walls (Friday Night Lights), Morgan Spector (The Plot Against America), Rose Decker, and Leslie Uggams (Roots).
“In the film, Aisha is an undocumented nanny working for a privileged couple in New York City,” reads the synopsis. “As she prepares for the arrival of the son she left behind in Senegal, a violent supernatural presence invades her reality, threatening the American dream she is painstakingly piecing together.
Nanny is produced by Jusu, Nikki Moulterie, Ryan Heller, Sumalee Montano, Grace Lay, and Rebecca Cammarata. It hails from Stay Gold Features, Topic Studios, and LinLay Productions.
