The control tower at the airport is understood to be diverting all air traffic to other airports.

Reporter Chelsea Spears tweeted that several people were on board the craft – their conditions are unknown.

And ABC journalist Sam Sweeney? described the plane as going off the runway and "over a hillside".

First responders are having trouble raching the plane, another broadcaster, WSAZ3, reports.

Roads around the area, including Barlow Drive and Keystone Drive, have been closed.

The airport is operating under a Level 3 emergency which is the highest level.

Nobody else is believed to have been on the aircraft.
