Becky 2: Quiver Sets Horror Thriller Sequel with Lulu Wilson Returning
It has been two years since the release of the action thriller Becky, and now Quiver Distribution has officially announced that it’s producing a sequel to the 2020 film, titled Becky 2: The Wrath of Becky.
The titular star Lulu Wilson (Annabelle: Creation) has signed on to reprise her leading role in the upcoming sequel, which will follow her character two years after the events of the first film.
American Pie alum Seann William Scott has also been tapped to star opposite Wilson as the sequel’s newest antagonist, taking over Kevin James’ previous role in the 2020 film.
“We’re thrilled to bring back our favorite young heroine in Becky 2: The Wrath of Becky,” said Quiver Distribution Co-Presidents Meyerowitz and Sackman. “Brought to life by the fantastic Lulu Wilson, audiences will continue to root for Becky as she fights back against new evil forces.”
Becky 2: The Wrath of Becky is written and directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote. Production on the sequel has recently wrapped, with Quiver Distribution planning to release the project early next year.
“In the upcoming film, Becky has been living off the grid for two years,” reads the synopsis. “She then finds herself going toe to toe against Darryl (Scott), the leader of a fascist organization, on the eve of an organized attack.”
Executive producers are Wilson, Scott, and Nick Morris, along with the first film’s directors Jon Millot, and Cary Murnion. The sequel is produced by Russ Posternak, Raphael Margules, JD Lifshitz, Tracy Rosenblum, Chadd Harbold, Jordan Yale Levine, and Jordan Beckerman. Quiver Distribution’s Berry Meyerowitz, Jeff Sackman, and Larry Greenberg are also executive producing.
“Audiences have been asking for a Becky sequel since the film’s 2020 premiere, and we’re proud to work with Quiver again to extend the franchise,” added Posternak. “Our goal was to up the ante from Becky 1 in every way imaginable and with Matt and Suz’s wild script and Seann William Scott’s turn as our terrifying villain opposite Lulu’s Becky, we know we’ll deliver the thrills, gore and heart that audiences loved in the original.”
The original film also starred Joel McHale, Kevin James, and Amanda Brugel. It followed a rebellious 14-year-old girl, whose weekend getaway with her father takes a turn for the worse when a group of convicts on the run, led by the merciless Dominick, suddenly invade the lake house.
