Christian Eriksen in line for Brentford debut against Newcastle
Christian Eriksen is in line for his Brentford debut this weekend.
The Dane is building up fitness ahead of his return to professional football for the first time since suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch during Denmark's game against Finland at Euro 2020 in June last year.
Brentford have laid on two friendlies to help get the 30-year-old get up to match speed, the first against Southend United last week before yesterday's trip to face a Rangers XI.
Eriksen claimed assists for both of the Bees' goals in a 2-2 draw having played almost 80 minutes of Monday's contest.
Mathias Jorgensen headed in Erkisen's first-half corner before Tristan Crama turned home a free-kick after the break after Rangers had taken the lead.
The London Evening Standard says there is optimism that Eriksen is now ready to be involved in the matchday squad when Newcastle visit west London this weekend.
