Pete Davidson to Lead Horror Thriller The Home From The Purge Director
According to Deadline, Pete Davidson has been tapped for the leading role in Miramax’s upcoming horror thriller film titled The Home, which will be set in a retirement home. It hails from The Purge films director James DeMonaco who will helm the project which serves as his first horror film outside the Blumhouse’s blockbuster franchise.
“We’re excited to be backing DeMonaco’s brilliant vision,” Producer Bill Block said in a statement. “James’ The Purge horror franchise has grossed over $450 million at the worldwide box office. With his masterful storytelling abilities and Pete’s versatility as an actor, this film will put audiences everywhere on the edge of their seats.”
The Home will see Davidson portraying a troubled man named Max, “who starts working at a retirement home and realizes its residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets,” reads the synopsis. “As he investigates the building and its forbidden fourth floor, he starts to uncover connections to his own past and upbringing as a foster child.”
The film will be written and produced by DeMonaco and Adam Canto, with Miramax’s Bill Block and Sebastian K. Lemercier also serving as producers. Production is expected to begin later this month.
The Saturday Night Live star is best known for his performance in Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten, which he co-wrote with Apatow and Dave Sirus. He will next be seen in A24’s slasher thriller Bodies, Bodies, Bodies and the romantic comedy film Meet Cute.
