This marks Lively’s latest collaboration with Netflix as she has also recently been cast for the Lady Killer adaptation of the Dark Horse comic series, with Diablo Cody set to direct and pen the thriller.

We Used to Live Here (Check out the first part of the novella here) centers around a homeowner who gets a knock at her door while her girlfriend is at work. On the other of the door, she finds a peculiar family consists of a husband, wife, and three kids. The man tells her that he once lived in the house and wanted to take a look around. The homeowner is just getting used to the old house herself, and things get progressively weirder as a snowstorm strands the unwanted visitors as they just won’t leave. The homeowner can’t get rid of them and winds up sorry she ever opened the door as events progress.

The film adaptation will be produced by Lively along with Kate Vorhoff through their B for Effort banner. Producers are Dan Kagan, Scott Glassgold for Ground Control Entertainment, and 6th & Idaho’s Matt Reeves and Adam Kassan as part of their first-look deal with Netflix.

Lively first gained recognition for her breakout role as Serena van der Woodsen in The CW’s Gossip Girl, which ran on-air for six seasons from 2007-2012. Her notable film credits include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Accepted, The Town, The Age of Adaline, A Simple Favor, and the most recent one The Rhythm Section.
