Lucifer Season 5 Musical Episode First Look: Watch The Devil Dance
Here's your first look at Lucifer's upcoming musical episode. Lucifer is the show that just keeps managing to beat death, having first been cancelled after airing three seasons on Fox. Netflix soon picked it up for two more seasons, then reversed course later this year by renewing Lucifer once more for season 6. Thus, the adventures of Tom Ellis' slick Devil continue on. The first half of season 5 premiered on Netflix last month and picked up from the previous cliffhanger of Lucifer returning to Hell after spending years in Los Angeles. Unsurprisingly, Lucifer season 5, part 1 ended with a cliffhanger, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news on part 2 ever since.
Unfortunately, however, Lucifer season 5, part 2 was one of the many shows affected by the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year. Ellis revealed they were in the middle of filming the season finale when production was shut down, and so far it has remained that way. Recently, though, reports have stated Lucifer season 5 is aiming to resume work later this month before starting on season 6, indicating part 2 could premiere early next year. Until then, though, fans have a new sneak peek to help tide them over.
The first clip for Lucifer's musical episode was revealed yesterday at DC FanDome. For those who missed it, though, Ellis shared the clip on social media. In it, Lucifer, Chloe Decker (Lauren German), Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro), and Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) are at a crime scene when Lucifer hears a familiar beat. He's left to watch in dismay as everyone around him breaks into song, specifically Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust". Check it out down below.
Musical episodes can be tricky to nail (just ask Riverdale), but Lucifer has a big advantage. As a fantasy show, it can get away with strange occurrences like this. In fact, recent episodes like season 5's noir installment, "It Never Ends Well for the Chicken", took on an unusual style to tell its story. It remains to be seen how successful Lucifer's musical episode will be, but this clip is certainly a fun intro for it.
After season 5's supersized episode count (16 episodes), Lucifer season 6 will drop back down to 8 episodes to round out the series. For fans who might be hoping there could be another season hiding behind the sixth, Netflix insisted season 6 will be the last during its official announcement. This means there's only 16 episodes to go for Lucifer's story, and fans are surely excited to see how it will all come to an end.
