Davido’s Father, Deji Adeleke, Set to Commission 1,250MW Power Plant in Ondo
Billionaire businessman and father of singer Davido, Dr Deji Adeleke, is set to commission a 1,250MW power plant in Ondo State by January 2025. The massive project, said to be one of the largest privately-owned power plants in Nigeria, is expected to generate about 15% of the country’s electricity.
Adeleke revealed the plant faced setbacks, including a $5 million turbine theft and regulatory delays, but confirmed it is now nearing completion.
The project is expected to ease power shortages and create thousands of jobs. Many have hailed it as a major contribution to Nigeria’s development.
The news of the impending launch sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians hailing Dr Adeleke for investing heavily in the power sector rather than just flaunting wealth.
One X user wrote:
“While others are building mansions abroad and buying luxury cars, Davido’s dad is building a power plant. Respect!”
Another user added:
“This is the kind of legacy project that can transform a nation. Kudos to Dr Adeleke.”
